Yeah, I’m proud.  Of them AND of me…  I got a thumbs-up [and a peanut butter cup] for my efforts today!  Guess that’s my student evaluation for Semester One.

We took an unofficial Spring Break the other week so have not yet completed our Chemistry, but we’re almost to the end of that book.  Beginner Geography is done.  Time for Mama to get online and figure out what’s next!

Brett and Luke both are furiously writing letters to their loved ones, and as soon as the Postal Service straightens out their mix-up and sends me my dang stamps, all y’all should be getting “some serious mail” as the kids would say.

I had to take a shot of this, Lukey’s first written letter.  I only helped him spell out “Dear,” otherwise he did it all on his own.

It reads

Dear Landon [his cousin], I have these delicious things [which, like the four-year-old he is and the southern boy he's becoming, he pronounces "fangs"].  On the other side it explains he’s talking about Brett’s cuppie cook cake things – that shot didn’t turn out.

YAY to Brett and Luke for a Job Well Done so far at Wallner Elementary.  More updates to come.

Luke was in charge of the camera for most of the ceremony.  I’ll spare you the 200 blurry shots of the basketball hoops and stuff.   The woman in the red polo is Brett’s fantastic teacher, Ms. DeClue.  Other one is the school’s Vice-Principal Ms. Smith.  The boy handing out awards and shaking hands is Matthew [Principal For the Day winner], who I believe is in 2nd grade.

Even though a classmate picked on them, Brett hung Lukey's posters with pride.

We got a fantastic report from Ms. DeClue, who clearly thinks the world of our girl – which I love.   Brett got the kindergarten version of STRAIGHT A’s.  And, for her behavior and character, she even got A+.  That’s my girl.  Are you proud?!  We are.

The kids earn something called “flower powers” when their teacher catches them doing something particularly kind for someone else, or for being-very-have in class. If the students earn enough flower powers in a week, they win a trip to the Treasure Box on Fridays.

We are proud to announce that Brett earned her first Treasure Box prize this week.  Not half as proud, I suspect, as this little girl:

Amazing how far these kids have come over the course of a few months.
Can’t wait to see what those little fish do next summer!
