North Carolina Zoo
A trip with Papa Wallner to the zoo in Asheboro, NC.
This zoo is waaay different than our old familiar stomping grounds. For one, its layout is linear – you start at one end and hike about three or four miles straight through to the other, then take a tram back to where you parked. We made an unfortunate choice in which end to start, and poor Lukey had to wait all day to see his beloved elephants. We were all rewarded for our patience, as we got to watch a young elephant swimming and splashing in its watering hole. After hiking for miles, what we wouldn’t have done to join them!
At some point we’ll go back there, but with a two hour trip one way I don’t foresee a Weekly Zoo Visit like in Wisconsin. We’ll miss our elephant friends.
